![]() In my opinion, this game is the successor to the original XCOM, not the new games that happen to use the IP. This missing shots at targets that are right next to you because you rolled that 1% nonsense is shit. Cover does what it is supposed to do, that is, physically block shots. The skies darken with alien vessels, and the Phoenix Project must rise to the challenge against their biggest foe yet in the all-new Festering Skies DLC. ![]() The new game systems in the DLC are needed, but ultimately the magic of this game is the vastly superior way cover works relative to the new XCOM games. If the target is seen at all, you can shoot at with no penalty if the target isn't in "cover". The new games reduce the gunplay to a simple percentage dice roll! The game generates projectiles and if they intersect a piece of terrain they'll be blocked unless it's powerful enough to penetrate the terrain. Cover doesn't work that way in this game! The little shield basically indicated how your soldier will position itself behind that piece of cover. Festering Skies is coming on May 25, and right now the team is. The first one, Festering Skies, will feature new missions and enemies (with the largest enemy ever called the Behemoth) alongside an air combat interception mini-game for the fans of the X-Com, originally created by Julian Gollop. I can't help but think that many of the complaints are from people that don't understand the game. The difficulty progression isn't perfect, but that can be tweaked by and by. Why try to fix something that worked perfectly well in the first place. It is basically an improved version of the original XCOM combat, which is nothing revolutionary but it does the job just fine. The addition of air combat is more important, I feel, than the specifics of the mechanic. The core game tasks players with turn-based strategy, basebuilding and advancement, and more, with a multitude of missions and procedurally generated encounters.I don't understand why people have such a problem with it.
